On December 2, 1984, I exposed this photograph of Conrail’s SEPW (Selkirk to Providence & Worcester) splitting the distance between two derelict signal towers at Worcester, Massachusetts.
The tower on the left is the former New Haven Railroad tower, while opposite the tracks on the right is the old Boston & Albany tower. The B&A tower was among the last remaining structures of its kind. It was demolished about 1987. The last time I looked, the gutted remains of the old New Haven tower still survived trackside.
Although an interesting photograph, this image may not make the final cut for consideration in my new book on Railroad Interlocking Towers.
