Last weekends Irish Railway Record Society 071 trip offered countless opportunities to make detailed views of the trains, stations and other equipment.
When I wasn’t focusing on the people or on scenes with the special train, I looked for iconic images of Irish Rail closeup.
These were exposed using my FujiFilm X-T1.
I will be on the road beginning 14 April; Tracking the Light posts should continue to appear daily for the duration of this trip.
As a follow up to yesterday’s Extra Post Irish Railway Record Society 071 Railtour 18 July 2015, I’ve put together this selection of images that I made on Saturday’s excellent rail tour from Du blin’s Connolly Station to Ballina and Westport. All were exposed with my Lumix LX7.

Extra! Extra! Irish Rail 077 in the new Livery makes one its first daylight runs.
A few minutes ago, at 4:25 pm, April 10, 2013, I caught Irish Rail’s 071 class locomotive 0117077 working a wagon transfer from Inchicore to Dublin’s Northwall . While the locomotive has worn this new paint for about a month, today it finally left its sequester at Inchicore works. It was understood to have worked a trial to Sallins (on the Cork road) earlier in the day.
The locomotive’s expanded number is intended to comply with European numbering conventions.
