I was hoping to again catch Amtrak trains passing at Christiana.
Instead, I caught trains 651 and 656 passing the old Pennsylvania Railroad station at Christiana a few minutes apart.
When I see these aged trains, I recall the old Metroliner, which I experienced in its early days as America’s super fast New York to Washington service.
In an era when American railroading seemed to be on the verge of extinction, the Metroliner offered another vision—one of speed and hope.
Soon these former Metroliner cab cars will join the old Metroliner as memories of another era.
