Yesterday, Mark Healy brought me on a walking tour of LUAS construction in Dublin’s north inner city.
We started at Marlborough Street and walked to Broadstone and Phibsborough.
I made these documentary views with my Lumix LX7.
When trams begin operation in a year or so, I plan to return for some comparison views.

Based on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luas, it looks like Boston’s MBTA could learn a lot from Dublin. One example, ” . . . part of the cost of some proposed line extensions (e.g. over 50% of Line B1 to Cherrywood) is being raised though levies on development in areas close to the projected route . . . ” Here in the USA, property owners in Somerville are making huge profits on properties near proposed stations for the extension of the Green Line, with NOTHING going to the project, which has now been halted due to financing troubles (note this sentence is over-simplification of a long story).
.. when they begin operation? Assuming they’re not on strike when they open!
Two short isolated pieces of track now to be seen in Nassau St and Grafton St. Completely unconnected with any other portions. A very different way to build a line compared with past methods, but it does keep bus traffic moving during the construction.
