Before the Clap of Thunder

Saturday was heavy with humidity, and thunderstorms were in the forecast. Seamus had been dropped off for his summer grooming and we were driving around while we waited to pick him up.

Our first stop was the Middletown & Hummelstown in Middletown, Pa.

“I know I’ve photographed the Alco switchers here before,” I said, “but since we’re here, why not make a few more photographs?”

I stepped out of the car and exposed a few images. The ground was damp, but it wasn’t raining. Moments after I climbed back into the car, the sky lit up, followed almost instantly by a deafening clap of thunder.

“That was close!”

Exposed with a Nikon Z6-III with 24-70mm lens. Processed using DxO PureRaw5 and PhotoLab9.

Sure was. Our next item of interest was to follow the Royalton Branch passed Three Mile Island.
