FS-Leonardo Express at Trastervere

When in Rome on this day in 2017 (April 5th), I photographed a Leonardo Express airport train gliding through the platforms at Trastervere station.

I was traveling light on this expoloratory trip to Italy and only carrying my Nikon F3 film camera and Lumix LX7 compact digital camera.

I returned six months later with my Fuji XT1 among other equipment. At the time I was researching and photographing for my book: Brian Solomon’s Railway Guide to Europe.

A Year Ago Today: Rome

On 6 April 2017, I spent the morning in Rome researching for my new book on European Railways.

These photos were exposed using my Lumix LX7.

Roman City Gate.

Antique Roman trams and city wall.

Narrow gauge interurban tram at Centocelle, which was effectively the end of the line on the day I visited.

An Alstom-built electric railcar at Roma Termini.

Rome’s Airport train at Roma Termini. Then off to the airport to Dublin.
