The other ‘NS’—Utrecht, NL , May 1996

In May 1996, my father and I flew to Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Early during this trip, I spent a few minutes at the main railway station in Utrecht.

Dutch railways were a novelty for me. I exposed this Velvia 50 35mm color slide of an Nederlandse Spoorwegen VIRM electric multiple unit using my Nikon F3T. This distinctive-appearing passenger train was relatively new to the railway at the time.

I’ve always been impressed by the vivid colors rendered by this film on a dull day. It is no wonder that Velvia is favored by nature photographers.
