With ticket reservations in hand, we arrived early at Virginia Scenic Railway’s C&O Flats Station to catch the shuttle bus across town to the historic C&O station in downtown Staunton.

This was a big day for me, a long time coming. Finally, I’d get my trip in a Budd Vista dome behind Norfolk & Western J No. 611.
