Last week, I exposed this digital image of Amtrak 656 gliding through the curves at Gap, Pa., using my Nikon Z6-III with a Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lens. My intent was to create a stark silhouette.

Here I’ve presented three variations of the same NEF RAW file.

The top is essentially unadjusted, except for scaling the file size for ease of presentation.

The middle photo is the product of adjustments to color and color saturation, contrast, and exposure using Lightroom. The bottom is essentially an unsaturated version of the middle image, with further adjustments to highlights and shadows.
