Irish Rail photos on Flicker

I recently opened a Flicker account under the name briansolomonauthor.

Among the various albums is one devoted to Irish Rail. This features a modest selection from the thousands of images I’ve expose of Irish Rail since 1998.

Even if you do not have a Flicker account you should be able to enjoy my photographs. I hope to post new selections on a regular basis.

I’ve also assembled various other albums including those for: Conrail, Finnish Railways, Transit, Railway Stations, and New England Central.

Brian, What a VERY interesting album of Irish photos! Nice to see 071 back in original livery – and presumably making original 645-E3-12 music when opened up on the Tara Mines loads when departing Drogheda southbound!! I spent a day photographing and taping the Tara Mines trains when they were the domain of ……001s! My brother repeated the exercise after the 071s took over. I like the going-away shot of the Wellington beet loads; what a very Irish day it was with sun AND rain! Gorraghwood brings back memories – the dog’s-leg in the old quarry on the northward track to derail down-hill trains hi-jacked by the Provos (it worked!!); an afternoon spent with my brother Peter atop the quarry face to photograph and tape-record an 071 on the south-bound tea-time Enterprise from Belfast. – WHAT an EMD noise- quite astonishing!! Also memories of listening to the roar of 001s echoing off the same quarry rocks as they hauled us upgrade south-bound en route to Dublin. CIE/NIR was full of interest back in the 1970s/80s/early-90s! Thanks for kindling the memories!
