In March, Kris and I had scoped out Old Goose Creek Road. Last week we returned in time to catch Amtrak’s westward Cardinal and then wait for Virginia Scenic Railway’s afternoon Summer of Steam Excursion.
While it had been windy and raining on our first visit here, this trip found clear blue skies.
I made these photos of Amtrak using my Z6-III with 24-70mm Nikkor Z-series zoom. Only a few minutes elapsed between trains, but in the Spirit of anticipation, I’ll post the views of the Summer of Steam led by Norfolk & Western 611 in my next post!
