There’s an attraction to old machinery. For me it’s a mix of curiosity, nostalgia and the opportunity to get close and make photographs.
On April 19, 2015, some friends from Cork and I arrived by road at the Durrow Vintage Show in County Laois. This was held in field on the old Dublin-Cork main road. It was warm Irish morning with the promise of lots of sun.
While old cars and farm tractors represented most of the equipment on display, there were items of railway interest for the discerning eye.
Using my Fuji X-T1, I exposed dozens of images. This was a perfect opportunity to put the camera through its paces. Lots of visual interest, but not a lot of pressure on the photographer.
