KCS at Ginger Blue, Missouri

In August 2011, I accompanied photographer Chris Guss on a night photo adventure on the Kansas City Southern at Ginger Blue, Missouri.

Chris negotiated with an area farmer to set up strobes in an adjacent field. We anticipated a northward freight. After a few test photos, the headlights of the freight announced its approach.

As it rolled by, I made these synchronized strobe illuminated night photo using my Canon EOS-7D using Chris’s lights.

Key to my composition was the classic searchlight signal at upperleft.
