Score One for the Sun!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Railway Preservation Society Ireland\u2019s July 27, 2014 \u2018The Marble City\u2019 tour was scheduled to depart Connolly Station in Dublin at 0935.<\/p>\n

It was essentially at sunny morning, but when I arrived at my spot in Islandbridge, a location known colloquially among local photographers as \u2018the Box\u2019, a band of light cloud was muting the sun.<\/p>\n

I waited patiently, Canons at the ready, for the sounds of locomotive 461 exiting the Phoenix Park Tunnel.<\/p>\n

Finally: a shrill whistle, a puff of steam and the clatter of carriages over the Liffey\u2014and then! Yes, at the last possible moment the sun emerged. I exposed a few slides and these digital photos.<\/p>\n

As quickly as it had come, the train was gone. Yet, for several minutes, I could hear the engine working up the \u2018gullet\u2019 toward Inchicore.<\/p>\n

Little did I know, but nearly 12 hours later, I’d photograph\u00a0the late running return trip! Stay tuned!<\/p>\n
