Old World Charm and Modern Trams.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Belgian cities have admirable tram networks. By far the most extensive is that in Brussels. Here tram routes crisscross the city. While long sections of tram subway now serve central Brussels, there\u2019s still lots of street running.<\/p>\n

Modern Bombardier-built \u2018Flexity\u2019 articulated trams dominate the fleet. Yet there\u2019s still some variety of older cars, including articulated PCCs.<\/p>\n

For this segment, I\u2019ve largely focused on the more modern cars as they offer the greatest contrast with Brussels\u2019 eclectic old world architecture.<\/p>\n

I have mixed feelings about the gold and silver livery. While more subdued than the gaudy colors used in some cities, it tends to look a bit grimy, especially in dull light.<\/p>\n
