Last week, on arrival in Columbia, Pa., the signal for the Columbia Secondary was lit Slow Clear<\/strong>\u2014the route was made for Norfolk Southern’s H19 to work west through Cola Interlocking and on to the Port Road Branch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We didn’t wait long before we could hear the freight sounding for crossings in town, and then its headlight came into view. Cars on North Front Street helped illuminate the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I made the first three photos from the well-lit parking lot near the old PRR station as H19 passed, then we followed the freight west through Marietta. At Vinegar Ferry Road in Marietta’s Riverfront Park, we paused, and I made long-time exposures of the passing freight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
