You\u2019ve heard of the \u2018elephant in the room\u2019? There are enough of those to found our own zoo! But that\u2019s not what I\u2019m writing about today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you watch freight trains, you\u2019ll see it pass by all the time. We may hate it; we may love it. It\u2019s there in broad daylight and in the dark of night. It has been part of the railroad scene for a long time now, and like it or not, it\u2019s here to stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I look back on the days when trains were free of it. I cringe when I see a classic car soiled by it. And yet, sometimes I\u2019m fascinated by the elaborate effort involved, along with the messages and images sent rolling across the landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So here are just a few photos from our travels in Pennsylvania. The \u2018elephant\u2019 on the rails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
