{"id":30758,"date":"2021-02-23T07:34:50","date_gmt":"2021-02-23T12:34:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/briansolomon.com\/trackingthelight\/?p=30758"},"modified":"2021-02-24T09:22:25","modified_gmt":"2021-02-24T14:22:25","slug":"stone-train-at-grand-ave","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/briansolomon.com\/trackingthelight\/stone-train-at-grand-ave\/","title":{"rendered":"Stone Train at Grand Ave"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In the mid-1990s, Wisconsin Central actively pursued traffic to fill its lines with trains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this September 1996 photo a former Algoma Central SD40-2 leads a short stone train at Grand Avenue in Waukesha, Wisconsin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These trains typicallyl ran with a single six-motor diesel and former Canadian National gypsum cars, often make several trips a day over the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I made this image using a Nikon F3T with f4.0 200mm Nikkor lens on Kodachrome Film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kodachrome&#8217;s grain structure permitted superior definition in extreme exposure situations such as the locomotive headlights. Where E6 films and digital media often suffer from poorly defined headlight areas, Kodachrome had a much better ability to retain detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img
