It is a cool, and aptly named northern New Hampshire village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stark. Literally and figuratively. And when I say cool, I’m being ironic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was cold. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The old Grand Trunk Railway runs through Stark on the north side of the Ammonmoosuc. Today, this is Genesee & Wyoming’s St. Lawrence & Atlantic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trains, when these pass, typically pass in the wee hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Very wee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s also an auld bridge here. And a wee church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A feeling of minimalistic surrealism permeates the frosty landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I made these views on a Stark visit with Kris Sabbatino over the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
