Does anyone remember the spoof newspaper \u2018Not the New York Times\u2019?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway, at first glance this nocturnal photo might be mistaken for a mid-1950s view of a New York Central EMD GP with a Bangor & Aroostook boxcar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course there are lots of hints to the contrary. If you look carefully, the GP9 in this view has ditch lights (a feature of the 1990s and later). The paint scheme, while inspired by the \u2018New York Central\u2019 lightning stripe, isn\u2019t really like anything actually used by the railroad on a GP9. And, of course this engine has dynamic braking grids (just barely visible at the top of the long hood), , which as everyone knows<\/em>(to quote a phrase) isn\u2019t representative of New York Central\u2019s GP9s, since none had dynamic brakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
