{"id":26516,"date":"2019-04-29T08:49:20","date_gmt":"2019-04-29T12:49:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/briansolomon.com\/trackingthelight\/?p=26516"},"modified":"2019-04-29T14:38:58","modified_gmt":"2019-04-29T18:38:58","slug":"lessons-of-time-orange-railcars-on-the-causeway-donabate-march-2000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/briansolomon.com\/trackingthelight\/lessons-of-time-orange-railcars-on-the-causeway-donabate-march-2000\/","title":{"rendered":"Lessons of Time: Orange Railcars on the Causeway\u2014Donabate, March 2000."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><br \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a cool, clear morning at Donabate on the old Great Northern Railway of Ireland north of Dublin, when I set up with a telephoto lens fitted to my Nikon N90S ( loaded with Fujichrome Sensia II slide film).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Irish Rail\u2019s 2700-series diesel railcars were relatively new at the time, but weren\u2019t the main feature of the morning. I was hoping to catch some NI Railways 80-Class that were on their way down from Belfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In retrospect, I\u2019m glad I made use of the clear morning light. The 2700-series railcars were relatively short-lived in traffic, and they only operated in that attractive orange livery for a scant few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some advice: take advantage of new trains in great light and make the best photos that you can, even when those trains don\u2019t seem special to you. Over time your photos will age well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"26517\"
