{"id":26147,"date":"2019-04-10T04:27:29","date_gmt":"2019-04-10T08:27:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/briansolomon.com\/trackingthelight\/?p=26147"},"modified":"2019-04-10T04:27:37","modified_gmt":"2019-04-10T08:27:37","slug":"gm-powered-diesel-leads-portuguese-timber-train","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/briansolomon.com\/trackingthelight\/gm-powered-diesel-leads-portuguese-timber-train\/","title":{"rendered":"GM Powered Diesel Leads Portuguese Timber Train."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><br \/>Most of the Portuguese main line network is electrified, which makes diesel hauled trains something of a novelty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the regular diesel hauled trains are freights by Portuguese open access operator Takargo, such as this one led by a Vossloh-built Euro 4000 diesel-electric locomotive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This unusual looking machine sounds familiar since it is powered by a General Motors Electro-Motive Division designed 12 cylinder 710 diesel engine. The Euro 4000 is a cousin of Ireland&#8217;s 201 class locomotive and the America F59PHI, also powered by variations of the 12-710.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I made these photos from the platforms at Porto
