In a few months time most freight will be diverted from the traditional Gotthard route to a new long tunnel beneath the Alps.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nIf you haven\u2019t visited the Gotthard Pass, here\u2019s my advice to you: don’t wait.<\/em><\/p>\nAt the end of this year the Gotthard base tunnel opens and most of the traffic will be diverted away from this classic Alpine crossing.<\/p>\n
