London offers wonderful contrasts linking the 19th<\/sup> century Victorian-era with more modern eras.<\/p>\n

Paddington Station was the terminal for\u00a0the Great Western Railway\u2014Brunel\u2019s broad gauge empire. Since that time the world has changed beyond recognition.<\/p>\n

Today, albeit much enlarged, Paddington remains as an important urban hub.<\/p>\n

When I visited in May 2010 the shed was filled with 1970s-vintage HST sets in modern paint, operated by First Great Western.<\/p>\n

Such a difference in decades fascinates me.<\/p>\n

What will this scene look like in another ten years? In another 100 years?<\/p>\n
